Prostatitis is the inflammation of the prostate gland.
The prostate is also a prostate, only in men. A small organ performs several functions: partially responsible for ejaculation, in part of urination, partly for protection against infections. Therefore, when the prostate gets sick, the case is not limited to pain, for example. The problems begin throughout the genitourinary system.
Prostatitis is, contrary to common opinion, not a disease related to age.
An increase in prostate and their cancer, in fact, are more common in elderly men, and prostatitis may be sick at any age.
How does it happen?
As most inflammatory diseases, prostatitis is acute and chronic.
- Acute: This is the one that suddenly began, and then it happened or became chronic. As a general rule, infection in this event development is guilt.
- Chronic: the one that manifests itself by unpleasant symptoms, then calms down. This condition can last years. Unfortunately, it is the second option that is very widespread, and its causes are not only infectious.
What are the symptoms of prostatitis?

Prostatitis signs are slightly different depending on the type of disease. Patients will help little these details, but the doctor needs a diagnosis to make a diagnosis. Therefore, be sure to tell you at the reception: when the symptoms appear, when they decrease, which, in your opinion, served as a cause of the disease.
So, the main symptoms of prostatitis:
- Pain. The prostate is under the bladder, between the roads where the urine and the rectum pass. Therefore, due to inflammation, it can hurt several places at the same time: in the penis, around, in the scrotum, around the anus or even at the bottom of the abdomen or back. Pain may appear during ejaculation or after sex.
- Difficulties with urination. The pain and burning appears, you have to run to the bathroom often, get up at night. It may be difficult to start and finish the process, blood may even appear in the urine.
- Urethra downloads. A thick liquid that you have not noticed before.
- Power problems.
If any of the symptoms lasts more than three months, this is already chronic prostatitis. And if in acute prostatitis all these signs are notable and cannot be lost, then chronic can only manifest with erectile dysfunction.
When going to the doctor
As soon as you notice the symptoms listed with prostatitis. It will be necessary to take tests and conduct investigations to diagnose and correctly prescribe the treatment. Some exams are unpleasant, but certainly not worse than prostatitis.
You cannot even postpone a visit to a doctor for a minute, if you have dysuria, the inability to go to the bathroom. This is a dangerous condition in which the liquid continues to accumulate in the bladder. It is necessary to move urgently to the hospital or call an ambulance.
Where prostatitis comes from
If prostatitis is infectious, then their reason are the microorganisms that penetrated the urethra and climbed into the prostate or managed to get there from other spotlights of infection. Often, infection clings after unprotected sex, so we must think about the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases.
In all other cases, it is impossible to say exactly why the prostate is inflamed. One can only assume some stagnant phenomena due to sedentary work and lack of sports and the influence of bad habits.
If you have a prostate, you can get sick.
But there are risk factors that warn that health is in danger:
- Age of 30 to 50 years.
- Any infection in the organs of the pelvis and the abdominal cavity (in the intestines, for example).
- Acute prostatitis in the past.
- Any operation and interventions in the genitourinary system.
- Pelvic lesions.
How to treat prostatitis
It all depends on the reason why it appeared. If bacteria are guilty, they are destroyed by antibiotics. In general, everything is limited to this. There are rarely complications that require surgery and prostate surgery.
If it is not in microbes, they try to reduce symptoms with analgesics and special products that relax smooth muscles and help solve urine problems. They use physical treatment, warm baths, physical education, everything that will work and from which it will be easier.
How not to get prostatitis

Unfortunately, there are no hundred percent reliable measures for prostatitis prevention, especially when it comes to a chronic disease that is not caused by infections. There are no reliable data that dietary supplements, a popular remedy or an innovative methodology will protect it. Everything we cannot rely on irritating foods, drink enough water to provide normal urination and protect against infections:
- Follow hygiene.
- Use condoms to avoid IPP.
- To treat any infectious disease, especially urinary tract.
- When unpleasant symptoms appear, visit a doctor immediately to start treatment as soon as possible and not start the disease.
